This week we caught up with Chloe, a Pilates instructor who discovered her passion while majoring in dance at university. We came across Chloe after trying our first reformer class, then going on to discover studios around town (perks of the job). Chloe teaches at several studios around Hong Kong. Her classes are effective, straight-forward and keep us coming back for more.
At ro/an, we design activewear that we #lovetomove in, whether it’s through our favourite flows, alignment classes, and new work-outs. As studios in both the UK and Hong Kong (HK) remain closed indefinitely, we look back at our time trying out Reformer Pilates at Flex Studios in Wong Chuk Hang, HK.
At ro/an, we talk about yoga a lot as it’s been key to alleviating the stress from life in a city like Hong Kong. If, like us, you practice yoga mainly for physical exercise, you may find that diving into the theory of yoga can add another dimension to your practice.
With all the buzz around crystals, we were keen to sign up to the ‘Yoga and Crystal Healing Workshop’ by Heloise Chung at Flex to find out more.
If you’ve done SUP before, you’ll know how serene it is wading through the waters of Hong Kong beaches. Taking in the beautiful scenery of sandy shores and a mountainous backdrop, the stress of the city will evaporate almost instantly. SUP yoga has the benefits of being both therapeutic and challenging.
Increased screen time has become inevitable for a lot of us. Being unable to do the things we normally do in-person, we’ve become even more glued onto our screens and online. While it’s important to note the negative side effects of this, there are also positive things that can be found through the looking glass that are our screens.
This has been a strange year for many reasons and we count ourselves lucky that we have been able to explore new ways of connecting with people. From zoom classes with our friends or reaching out to yoga teachers whose classes we’ve always loved but never quite got the chance to chat to. As the global situation keeps changing, it’s been inspiring to see friends’ power through the uncertainty, and encouraging to see communities around us support each other.
We have been a fan of Wendy’s morning ‘power yoga’ class at Shan Studios in Wong Chuk Hang for a while. It is an invigorating and energising start to the day, perfect for clearing that morning fog and getting us ready and focused for the day ahead.
Hong Kong got you working long hours? Or perhaps elsewhere, your new #WFH life seemed great at first, until you realised this just meant less podcast and more work?
At ro/an we tend to hold a lot of tension in our shoulders. This is partly due to extended periods of sitting in front of our desk, partly because we forget to maintain good posture (who doesn’t?).
Her Yoga Practice is the first in Hong Kong to offer yoga, tailored for women that is geared towards fertility and healthy hormones. While babies are not on the cards for any of us at ro/an, balanced hormones and stress relief are welcomed with tea on the side. We got to catch up with Claire to tell us more about her practise and her secret skills.
